Ashe's Juniper

Juniperus ashei
native · Hill Countrycaution

Ashe's Juniper is a tree native to the Texas Hill Country that grows 5–50 ft tall and 30 ft wide. It wants full sun or part shade and low water, and handles caliche and clay soil. Blooms white and brown in Jan, Feb and Dec. Evergreen — it holds its leaves through winter. Deer rarely browse it. Good for butterflies.

Caution — people. Not toxic, but the pollen is the primary cause of Central Texas cedar fever.
