From our guide

Village of the Hills

Stout single-trunk palm with large costapalmate fronds and a heavy, textured trunk.

Why it works here

The only palm genuinely native to Texas and far hardier than the Mediterranean fan palms sold beside it.

Watch out

Slow. Very slow. Buy the size you want. Old fronds need removal or the trunk looks unkempt.

Can you buy it?

In the Village of the Hills guide, but not on the grower stock lists we read yet. Ask a native-plant nursery.
